PLAYS OFFLINE. ALWAYS.

Lunarkane is built for no-wifi moments — flights, tunnels, road trips and dead zones. Nothing streams, nothing loads, nothing tracks you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lunarkane work offline?

Yes — 100% offline. Once installed, every tile, sound and score is generated on your device, so you can play with no wifi, no signal and airplane mode switched on.

Does Lunarkane collect data?

No — nothing leaves your device. No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

Is Lunarkane free?

Free on web, and $0.99 on the App Store. There are no ads and no in-app purchases in either version.

What devices are supported?

iPhone, iPad, Android and the web — anywhere a modern browser or the App Store build runs.

Is Lunarkane accessible?

Yes: reduced motion, colourblind palettes, text size, contrast and a haptics toggle, all saved on your device.

Do I need an internet connection to start a run?

Never. There is no login, no download step and no server check. Open the app and press PLAY — it works the same on a plane, on the subway or in a dead-zone cabin.

Why keep Lunarkane installed as an offline game?

It loads in seconds, runs one-handed in portrait, and every run is different because the board is generated procedurally. No wifi games usually ship stale levels; Lunarkane never repeats the same board.

Are there ads, tracking or in-app purchases?

No ads, no analytics, no tracking and no purchases. Nothing leaves your phone, which is also why the game keeps working with no internet.

Where are my scores stored?

Your best score, best chain and settings are saved locally in your device storage. Clearing the app's data resets them.

How do I play?

Tap glowing lunar tiles before they fade to build a chain. Chain quickly to raise your combo multiplier, grab shards for extra time, and avoid the drifting shadows — touching one with an active chain ends the run.

Is the game suitable for kids?

Yes — it's rated 4+ with no violence, no chat, no ads and no data collection.

Can I turn off sound, motion or vibration?

Yes. Settings has volume, music and sound-effects toggles, haptics on/off, motion intensity (Light, Normal, Off), reduced motion and high contrast, and each choice is remembered on your device.

How do daily and weekly challenges work?

A new daily objective rotates every day with its own modifier, and a longer weekly World Tour mission rotates each week. Both are generated from your device's date — no server — and completing them builds a local streak with rewards tracked in your challenge history.

What is the gear system?

Gear, sigils and relics are the progression layer. Gear and abilities unlock at XP milestones, two sigils can be equipped before a run as modifiers (shield, slow fade, shard magnet and more), and relics recovered on missions give small capped passive bonuses so runs stay fair.

Does Lunarkane have colourblind modes?

Yes — protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia palettes recolour tiles, runes and shadows so every element stays distinguishable. Combine them with high contrast and text size controls in Settings.

What does reduced motion do?

It freezes background parallax, weather, eclipse sweeps, starfield drift and rune animation, and calms chain flashes, while keeping all gameplay feedback readable. Motion intensity gives you a middle setting if full off is too static.

How do I back up and restore my progress?

Open Settings → Backup & restore, tap Export progress to save a .json file to your device, then tap Import progress after a reinstall and pick that file. The backup is created and read entirely on-device and is never uploaded.

The game stutters or a background looks blank — what should I do?

Set Graphics Quality to Low in Settings for older iPhones; it caps frame pacing, lowers render scale and skips weather effects. For artwork issues, run Offline Check from Settings to verify every backdrop decodes — missions always fall back to the procedural backdrop, so they never fail silently.
